New YouTube tags
« on: February 23, 2012, 04:07:08 PM »
The old YouTube forum tags were annoying me ( you had to distinguish the code from the URL to make it work, and you couldn't change the video if you weren't a moderator ).

I now installed a forum mod that allows you to copy/paste the entire link. Also, they really are BBCode-tags now, so you can easily edit them yourself.

[yt]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9DO1U1U5Rc[/yt]
renders into »
Hidden : YouTube video:

Have fun posting your videos! :)

Note:
The old ones don't function anymore, so
[yt]o9DO1U1U5Rc[/yt]
will render nothing at all.

fck.

Check all the MOTW topics. Maybe u could edit the mod a bit? So u can use the [yt]o9DO1U1U5Rc[/yt] as well?

Except that the motw isnt working anymore, im fine with it. Still stupid some people dont under stand [yt]o9DO1U1U5Rc[/yt].

GL, there was big issue when you wanted to edit a post with yt tags in it. I think Ostrich had to remove completely so no one is tempted to use the old buggy way.

I tried, but I don't seem to be able to edit it, because of the structure of the code. It just only works if it's an entire link...

I could have tried, but changing it is a huge pain in the arse.

Usually, when changing something, you just have to upload a file to the server to have it working. However, with SMF, you need to un-install the mod, change the files, and re-install it. This all takes about 30 seconds per time, so I got bored of it after a little while.

Also, what terror says is true. What I could do is to leave the [yt][/yt]-tags as they were and create new tags: [youtube][/youtube] for the new system. This way, they both will work, but it will be annoying to re-learn it.
