Another Poem - For Him.
« on: April 17, 2012, 10:39:45 PM »
* Pre-notice * Wasn't sure if another poem like the one I last wrote should be in the art showcase or the Minecraft section. So I put it in here since I didn't see much of a point showing off poems in a game tab.

----------------------------------------------

wouw, very nice.
you should do more with poems :P it's great to read it. :)

Well, I have another one for you. And here it is:

----------------------------------------------------

This curse...
This curse, sent by the divines...
My people worry we will soon be enveloped.
Witches and sorcerers1 have come and cursed our village,
But we were able to drive the curses away.
This, however, cannot be solved.
Nothing divine-sent can be driven off.

This curse...
This curse kill our villagers,
Destroys our crops,
Poisons our minds, and...
It is happening.
The transformation.
It has entered my mind.
It grows nearer. Nearer. Nearer.
enod si tI.

-------------------------------------------------

1 - Witches and sorcerers mean evil enchanters, brewers, and greifers.

2 - Backwards writing is a feature included in the Herobrine modification.

Not superscripted - The word "devines" is meaning the Mojang devines, otherwise known as the programmers of the game and such.

Okay, got yet another one for you guys. It's non-Herobrine related.

--------------------------------------------------

Awaken.
See the world in front of you, and craft it to make it yours.
See the possibilties.
You are the player.
You are the conqueror.
You are the destroyer.
You are the god.
You are you.
Awaken.
You have work to do.

Got yet another one, not really Minecraft-related, but it's close enough.

--------------------------------------------------

A mine, full of gold, for the poor.
A loaf, stained with [re]generation1, for the hungry.
A home, filled with luxuries, for the homeless.
A chestplate, dipped in strength1, for the weak.
A generous thought, from my body, for all.

--------------------------------------------------

1 - Regeneration and strength referring to potions (that part is related to Minecraft, of course).

Cool poem, well balanced and it runs pretty well on the tongue as well!

Few thoughts about it:
'body' could be specified. Generous thoughts generally come from your heart or your head.

Also, what is 'generation', regarding you left 're' between brackets? If you leave it out, it runs better, but then why did you use square brackets [] instead of parentheses () ? Read this comment about using either brackets or parentheses if you're not sure when to use what. :)

Good job!

Well, I wrote this as though it was a quote, Ostrich. And in quotes, words left out are typically added using brackets.

Example taken from About.com on when to use brackets:

•In Thomas Jefferson's time there was definitely a notion that "A little rebellion now and then [was] a good thing."

So you're saying that you could leave 'was' out of that sentence?

Not in today's world, no. But due to the era that Thomas Jefferson lived in they probably spoke with words left out like that. There are also hundreds of quotes in my history book from the early times of Islam and such that leave out words. I made it look as though it was an old poem.
