Good computer or.....
« on: June 19, 2012, 10:32:51 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm thinking of buying this PC:http://tvdlcomputers.nl/product/TVDL_GAMER!_Intel_Core_i5_2400_500GB_12GB_GTX550_Ti_3GB!/631.html
I have my own OS.
I don't need a $1000 gaming pc but I want to play at least the latest games.
Also HIGH quality is not the most important.
Such as:
BF3
Arma 2/3
Gta V
And all that stuff.

Specifications:
Casing                MS Tech - CA-0270BL Xerxes Blue
Motherboard       MSI - P67S - C43 Intelฎ P67 Chipset
Processor           Intel - Core i5 2400 3.10GHz Quad Core
Graphic Card        Club3D - Nvidia GeF. GTX550 Ti 3072MB
RAM                  12GB (12288MB) DDR3 PC10666 1333MHZ
Harddisk              Hitachi - 500GB Sata-II
DVD Burner          NEC - Samsung 223C 22x SATA
Cardreader          HKC - Cardreader 3,5 All in One
Soundcard          8-channel (7.1) Realtek ALC889
Networkcard        1Gbit Realtek RTL8111E
Connections        13xUSB 2.0, 1xPS2, RJ45,
OS                     No

649,- Euro

Tell me what you think.

Like you said, it's not the state-of-the-art, but I think it will prevail against the tortures of running BF3. You may see a tiny trail of steam coming out, but as long as there's graphics, there is hope! salute

Yeah, got carried away there. It will do, imho.

You cant play bf3 with this. Bf3 only supports Windos vista and 7. ''No'' doesnt support dx11.

Anyway, I would suggest taking an i7. I think it will match more with your RAM and GFX card.

12GB of RAM? Better stick to 8 and reinvest the money into a better gfx card.

One does not simply buy a pre-built computer without regrets.

The GPU doesn't really fit a gamer, 12GB of whatever-brand RAM would be useful for a 3D graphics designer, not in games, the case, well, yeah, and I personally don't trust Hitachi's HDDs anymore.
Buy the components individually and assemble your machine manually or ask someone to do it, I'm sure you can find at least one. If you need help configuring, reply here; certainly our beloved and sexy members will aid you on your quest.

Alright. Then make a good gaming computer for about 700 to 800 euro's.
It's not actually a problem if I have to build it myself. I've done this before.

Seeing as my preferred website refuses to be translated to English, I'll just post the parts including basic information. The shops in comparison presumably don't ship to The Netherlands anyway.

1x Intel Core i5-2500K, 4x 3.30GHz, boxed - ~190€
1x Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3, P67 (B3) - ~70€
1x MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC, 1GB GDDR5 - ~190€
1x Kingston ValueRAM 8GB PC3-10667U CL9 (DDR3-1333) (KVR1333D3N9K2/8G) - ~40€
1x Western Digital Caviar Blue 1000GB, 32MB Cache, SATA 6Gb/s (WD10EALX) - ~80€
1x Corsair Gaming Series GS600  600W ATX 2.3 (CMPSU-600G) - ~64€
1x Prolimatech Genesis - ~55€
1x Prolimatech Blue Vortex 14 - ~10€
1x Thermaltake Armor A60 - available with or without window - ~50€

= ~749€

(Note: The i5-2500K with its free multiplier is meant for overclockers. You might save a couple of bucks if you go with the standard version without the 'K'.
Note: I built this assuming you've still got a working optical drive. If not, a new one, for example by ASUS or LG, is about 20€.)

Critique?

You sure? After you get some experience you can get way more performance.

Well, when I read things about overclocking I always get the warning like: ''Be carefull, you can screw your PC'' and such things. Maybe later but first I won't overlock.

It isn't really harmful, just takes time and there is still a chance to screw it up.
